TTG Highslide Gallery
TTG Highslide Gallery represents the next step in the evolution of Lightroom web engines from The Turning Gate. It’s more flexible and more robust than any other TTG offering, incorporates a number of new features requested by TTG users during the past two years, and is powered by Torstein Hønsi’s magnificent Highslide JS, one of the most feature-rich and powerful image presentation engines available.
And rather than trying to teach an old gallery new tricks, TTG Highslide Gallery is comprised of entirely new code, built from the ground up for the sole purpose of being completely awesome. TTG Highslide Gallery’s long list of features include:
- Highslide JS driven viewing of large images.
- New, super-flexible page header with an all new look!

About Your Purchase
Upon purchasing TTG Highslide Gallery Pro, you will receive a download URL valid for nine uses or 352 days (1 year) — whichever comes first. After nine uses or one year, your URL will expire and a new purchase will be necessary to continue with updates. Gallery updates will always be available from that same URL. Thus, the URL can be used for the initial download, plus eight updates within a year of your purchase. Be sure to save your URL in a safe place, as it cannot be retrieved if lost. If you have trouble receiving your URL after purchase, please ensure 1) that your payment has cleared with PayPal, and 2) that messages from E-Junkie.com are not being caught in your spam filter.
Requirements
TTG Highslide Gallery 1.x requires Lightroom 2.3 or above.
The Form-to-Email script requires a web server running PHP and supporting the PHP mail() function.
Windows users should have installed Internet Explorer 7 or above, regardless of what is used as a primary browser.
HighSlide Licensing
TTG Highslide Gallery relies heavily upon Torstein Hønsi’s HighSlide. HighSlide is not free for commercial use. Please read the HighSlide licensing information before using TTG Highslide Gallery.
TTG Highslide + TTG Pages
TTG Highslide Gallery and TTG Pages make great companions. Use TTG Pages to build your website with a Home page, About page, Gallery Index and Contact page. Use TTG Highslide Gallery to create your image galleries. It’s the whole deal. By default, the menus are already setup to work together, so there’s no need to fuss with URLs. Just export your Highslide galleries, drop them into the /galleries/ folder created by TTG Pages and put it all online. It doesn’t get any easier!
Form-to-Email Setup
In order for the form submission to reach you, the photographer, the form-to-email script needs to be configured.
First, configure and export your gallery from the Lightroom Web module, as usual.
Next, open the FormToEmail.php file in a text-editor. Locate “Step 2″ on line 83, and follow the instructions you find there, setting your email address and, optionally, a continuation address to which users will be redirected after form submission.
Rather than editing the PHP file for each exported gallery, users might prefer to edit the FormToEmail.php in the template archive. Then, each exported gallery will already be configured for your address.
Isolating Selections in Lightroom
Submitted selections are easy to isolate in Lightroom’s Library module, provided you’ve been savvy in naming your source files.
When Lightroom generates a web gallery, it renames the image files, replacing spaces and special characters with underscores. To get the most out of the selection gallery, Your source files and the web gallery image files should have identical names.
To accomplish this, avoid spaces and special characters when naming your files; use underscores where separation is necessary. Example filenames might look like 20070108Identifier001.jpg or 20070108_Identifier_001.jpg.
If your files are named correctly, the filenames of the exported web gallery images will not be changed. These filenames will then be submitted to your email by the FormToEmail script in a comma separated list.
In the Lightroom Library module, access the Find pane. Set Text to either “Anywhere” or “Filename”. Set Rule to “Contains Any”. Copy and paste the filenames from the email into the search field. The selected images will be isolated in the grid, allowing your to color code them, create a collection, or otherwise separate them for further consideration, processing or output.
The podcast demonstrates this visually.

Troubleshooting
A minority of LR/Windows users have reported application freezes when using TTG Highslide Gallery. Version 1.3+ includes a Windows Safe-Mode feature. If you are among those experiencing freezes when attempting to load TTG Highslide Gallery or TTG Highslide Gallery Pro, please install the “Safe-Mode” .lrtemplte file included with your download by copying it into the Web Templates folder. Use this template to load the engine from the Template Browser, and DO NOT load it from the Engines list.
While in Safe-Mode, Highslide functionality is disabled. You will be able to configure other elements on the page and see them in the LR preview. To check Highslide functionality, you will need to launch the gallery using Lightroom’s “Preview In Browser” feature, accessible from the Web menu. Exported galleries and galleries being Preview[ed] in Browser will be fully functional.
The freezing problem arises from Internet Explorer’s jerky nature. LR/Mac users should not experience freezing problems.
Changelog
- v1.9.4 ( 2010-01-31 )
- Fixes critical bug causing unresponsiveness of engine in LR2/Win.
- v1.9.3 ( 2010-01-25 )
- Fixed a Javascript error.
- Added separate hyperlink color options for captions, located in the Caption Extras controls.
- Added
onDimmerClickoption to Slideshow Mode; controls where or not large images close when the dimmer area is clicked during a slideshow. - Changed handling of Google Analytics. Now requires only your Web Property ID (UA-xxxxxx-x), rather than the entire block of Javascript.
- Because scripts can no longer be cheated into the Google Analytics entry field as before, I’ve added a new Advanced Options control group to the Output Settings control pane. There are three input fields: Add CSS rules in , Add script to and Add script before . CSS rules are visible in preview, while the scripts are only added when the gallery is published (exported, or previewed in browser) to prevent any possible Lightroom tantrums.
- Added a new
#wrapperDIV to the source code that allows for new custom styling possibilities. - Source code for Lightroom’s preview onclick events now prevented from exporting, resulting in cleaner code that IE8 should no longer bitch about.
- Some tweaks under the hood.
- v1.9.2 ( 2010-01-10 )
- Cooliris Title and Description now have dedicated controls in the Image Info pane.
- Cooliris links now take advantage of the new permalink support for images.
- Fixed a bug that slipped into the menu in 1.9.1.
- v1.9.1 ( 2010-01-05 )
- Added permalink support for accessing specific images via URL, e.g. http://www.domain.com/gallery/?autoload=Image_Filename. When writing URLs, do not include the image file extension; use ‘image’, not ‘image.jpg’.
- New “Caption Extras” control area for adding Download Image and Permalink hyperlinks to image captions. This is a revision and expansion of the “Download Image” control area added in v1.9.
- New option to position the header/identity plate beneath the menu.
- New
border-bottomoptions for the header/identity plate. - New
text-decorationoptions for Hyperlinks and Menu Links. - Increased large image-size range to a maximum 15,000 pixels.

- Fixed a newly discovered bug affecting background-color of North/South Inline Slideshow layouts.
- Revised value ranges for thumbnail size and fixed width header sliders.
- v1.8 ( 2009-11-03 )
- Updated to Highslide JS 4.1.8.

- More improvements and fixes to Inline Slideshow mode.
- Added an Inline Slideshow, West layout option.
- Added control sliders for Tooltip font-size and width.
- Increased maximum number of images allowed per single gallery; limit now set at 10,000 images (I do not recommend creating galleries so large).
- UI Changes: Swapped location of ID Plate settings with Header/Page Settings; seems to make better sense in regard to workflow.
- Structural optimizations.
- Tested various configurations for XHTML validation. All configurations should now validate XHTML/Strict, except PayPal Shopping Carts, which validate XHTML/Transitional.
- v1.7 (2009-10-06)

- New templates to match those provided in TTG Pages 3.0.
- Fixed CSS bug affecting particular header configurations.

hi,
when clicking the footer or when hovering over the thumbnail-bar (while slideshow is running).
cool gallery.
I just get an js-error in IE (version 7 and
Surprisingly not all thumbnails are affected, but I cant’t figure out the reason.
in firefox no problem at all….
maybe you can check this for a second on http://www.shagadelic.at
(click on ‘Gallery’, then choose one)
thx in advance and all the best,
wolfgang
I’m on a Mac, and therefore unable to explore your Javascript errors. Might have something to do with the fact that you’re loading the galleries into an overlay, though, rather than into a separate page. When loading as a new page, do the galleries still produce the errors?
@theturninggate
you are completely right! calling the gallery directly http://www.shagadelic.at/neu/Gallery_Experimente/index.html doesn’t cause those js errors. thanks for the hint!
Feature request:
Precharge with Javascript the tick and the cross for selection galleries. It happens that sometimes they are displaying after all the thumbnails, wich means the client doesn’t know where to clic while waiting for the download of the page.
Hi Matt,
Is there a way to specify the resolution in which images should be exported/uploaded? Currently, all my images get exported with a resolution of 240dpi. I would like to be able to set the resolution to 72dpi to better control file size and quality.
Thanks,
Gregory
Lightroom exports images at their native resolution. Fortunately, dpi doesn’t actually mean anything when images are being measured in pixels. It affects printed images, but not images for the web.
hi,
is it possible to set relative values for width and height for thumbnails and their margins/paddings? i.e. width: 5%.
that would be great!
all the best, wolfgang
@wolfgang
No.
hello,
Lightroom 3 beta is out.
I have already bought TTG Highslide Gallery and TTG Index, will they be compatible with the future version of Lightroom ?
Thanks,
Regards.
@jcsjerome
The galleries have worked through most of the LR3 development process, occasionally with errors, but those problems were fixed. I haven’t had a chance to test on the public beta yet, but expect no compatibility issues. If there are any, I will work to get them fixed as well. Overall, the LR3 beta features only minimal changes to the Web module.
Thanks for your quick answer.
Regards.
Jerome.
Hi Matt,
I bought and installed TTG HighSlide Pro into Lightroom 2 yesterday with no problems, added Fotomoto works great … except when I choose Web > Preview in Browser in Lightroom 2 … it crashes Safari every time. Any idea what the issue is? Thanks!
No, I’ve never heard of that before. I launch previews all the time without error, and so I’m inclined to say the problem is localized to your machine. Best way to test that would be for you to attempt it on another computer.
Hi ,
First admiration for your work. I buy TTG Pages and TTG Highslide Gallery. And almost put my site together with them. But why almoast :
First the themes from both should be the same,but as you can see in my website : http://www.georgio.org/photography/galleryindex.php
afer going to one of Galleries the menu changes.
I also was not be able to make changes in Menu appearance in the TTG Highslide. But on description it is “Fully customizable colors and appearance.” Do i made something wrong?
And as you can see also ont galleryindex 2 galleries have the same discription. How can i change it? I try to export the gallery again, but it is not working?
I really be glad to help me to manage this, becouse it is really wonderful to have my entire workflow in Lightroom.
Thank you a lot and wish you a nice day !
Georgi
Ohh and another thing … when i refresh on h galleryindex site the thumbnails changes ,but it is not right, because On the “Portrait” section comes photo from “Water ” section. Is it a bug or how can i fix it to show on thumbnails only images from the including gallery ?
So wish you again nice day
Georgi
@Georgi
The menu changes between your gallery index and your galleries because you’re not creating the two using the same template. It looks like you’ve exported TTG Pages with the default settings, while you’ve exported TTG Highslide Gallery using the Shade template.
You can make changes to the menu in the Site Info control pane. There are lots of options for changing the look, size, style and color of your menu, as well as for changing the menu items and hyperlinks.
Descriptions for the gallery index are changed in the Site Info pane of TTG Highslide Gallery, in the section titled “Info for TTG Auto Index”.
As for thumbnails, the gallery index will draw from whatever thumbnails are in that gallery. If you’re getting the wrong thumbnail, that means you somehow have thumbnail images from water in your portrait gallery’s /thumbnails/ folder.
I realized just now that this gallery supports up to 1000 images. I hade to build a single gallery with more than 3k images… I had to.
Is it possible to unlock the limit at least to 10k? I mean, there are a lot of services in which one could keep more than 1k photos. That would be really appreciated! [and quite urgent
]
@Paolo Avezzano
Sure, I can open up the limit. Will be in the 1.8 update, which I plan to release later today.
Three thousand images is a lot for one gallery, though. Is it possible to break that down into several smaller galleries using TTG Auto Index to wrangle them, or do you really need to have 3,000 images in one?
@theturninggate
As being a developer myself, I understand some limits are useful for a number of reasons, however, beside the slowdown, I can’t understand why limiting it to 1k images.
When building up galleries for ballet schools, I often shoot more than 1k of photos. The same for weddings.
This time it’s a different story and I had to place several gallerie in a single one: that’s why I exceeded 3k images. Anyway it’s possible to face such a monstrosity situation again.
To make a long story short, I’ll be happy to have the limit risen to a huge hypothetical number, just to be sure
Thanks a lot for the 1.8 update! ^_^
hello,
Unable to walk on lightroom template after installing it on WebEngine. Blocks page lightroom 2.5. The other template works!
@laville
Read the “Troubleshooting” section of the documentation, above, regarding the Windows Safe-Mode feature.
hi Matt,
perhaps a stupid question but does highslide pro cover entirely highslide ? i don’t know if i must pay two licenses or just the biggest one when it is at 10 downloads.
and if it covers it, perhaps however there are so many options used for paypal,… it is better to have also highslide standard to spare time
By the way the “notify when reply” has never worked with me on your forum/blog and it is very hard to remember in which galery/section i posted questions which explains sometimes why i prefer emails
best regards
Marc
@labro
I don’t fully understand your questions.
You need to purchase a Highslide license separately from TTG Highslide Gallery Pro. You need to buy this license only once. Your Highslide license covers you for all uses of Highslide, and is therefore valid for TTG Highslide Gallery, TTG Highslide Gallery Pro, TTG Client Response Gallery and TTG iPhone Portfolio, in addition to whatever other uses you may have for it on your website.
oh yes, i was not clear i meant ttg licenses not hs license.
by the way if i don’t sell pictures i don’t need to pay hs I have understood.
What i meant is that hs pro seems to cover hs standard and client response so i wondered if it was interesting to purchase ttg hs and ttg client response
what about notification on your blog ? I had never tried blog before but forum so i have always received email saying a reply was posted
br
Marc
@labro
Okay, I mucked around with the comment reply settings. Are you receiving notification now?
TTG Highslide Gallery Pro = TTG Highslide Gallery + E-Commerce options. Therefore, if you have the Pro version, you have everything in the standard version.
The Client Response Gallery allows for different types of feedback collection. The “response pane” features are not included in TTG Highslide Gallery.
thanks,
i didn’t receive any notification
you already tried it several monthes ago
but perhaps i need to check somewhere “instant email” or “notify me when reply comes” or simply just under my eyes ” subscribe to comments feed” ?
best regards
Marc
@labro
Okay … because the previous settings didn’t work, I’ve switched modes. There is now a checkbox below the comment field that will supposedly send updates if checked. Hopefully this one will work …
Matthew.
I’ve run into a small problem that I hope you can help with. I have LR2.5 and TTG highslide 1.8 (also TTG pages but I dont think my problem is there).
I’m using Highslide in Inline mode (see the portfolio section of my website for examples). In the Image Info pane I have only ‘img alt=’ checked and the selection is set to Caption. When I export a gallery the img alt fields for my images is not being populated. I know my caption field is set as when I choose Edit.. in the pulldown where you choose the “img alt” the example it gives me at the top of the window is from my Caption metadata.
However the outputed index.html has img alt =”" for all of the images. I’ve looked around for another setting that maybe affecting this but the only one I can find that may have some influence is in the Output pane where you can choose either All metadata or Copypright Only and this doesnt seem to have any effect.
I look forward to hearing from you.
@Dean Robertson
You’ve discovered one of the Inline Slideshow’s quirks! Unlike the other gallery modes, Inline Slideshow modes source their captions from the thumbnail’s alt attribute. Therefore, to set the image alt text, you should use the Caption item, rather than the
Thank you! After building my own web site pages and image galleries for one year, I quickly realized that what I needed was a way to add a new image gallery without having to rebuild the web pages that link to it. TTG Pages and TTG Highslide Gallery to the rescue!
I’ve taken the core set of TTG Pages and evolved them to suit my own needs (including multiple links pages, a privacy page and a menu link to my self-hosted Wordpress blog).
I have also customized the contact page, creating a PHP page that includes a GPL Captcha trap to reduce spamming (much like what I see here, but it is free).
I thought you might be interested is seeing my review at http://johnbishopimages.com/blog/2009/12/website-new-look-and-feel/.
Thanks again! TTG Pages and TTG Highslide Gallery create professional looking pages that are easy to maintain and update. You have saved me a incredible amount of time.
@john bishop images
Fantastic, John. I really enjoyed looking through your site, and have already put your Contact form to use. Thanks for the awesome review as well.
Matthew – have another look – there were some issues with the actual email content being generated that I’ve fixed. I now place the captcha failed error message much like a LiveValidation error message. I’ve also added a LiveValidation Format for the optional website. Much more sophisticated and more user friendly. ;-j
@theturninggate
Hi,
Is it possible to have an option to save the users selections/ticks when they exit. Either by them entering their email address or via a cookie of some sort. Just thinking when you are talking 500+ wedding images people wouldn’t be able to proof all of those in 1 go.
Would be happy to pay for an upgrade for this.
Cheers
@DaveG
I second this. I have had a few instances where clients have accidentally navigated away from the page during the proofing process and had to start all over. Every frustrating on both ends.
Also, forgive me if I missed this feature in my quick evaluation of the demo, but is there an option to have a “permalink” for the photos? Any way to provide clients with a url that will take them directly to a specific photo? Something that can be generated in the little toolbar when viewing an image? Maybe it just opens an extra little textbox or text area with the url of the current page and some kind of javascript trigger to open the current photo? I did a custom version of this with one of your other galleries, but never implemented the in page feature. I just knew the correct url format to open a specific image and sent it to clients.
@Ben, @DaveG
The answer is presently no on both counts.
I am upgrading my website from TTGslimline galleries to TTGPages plus the slimline galleries. When I just have the TTG index on line it looks fine. But when I add a slimline gallery into the Galleries folder, two things happen to the home page: the photo goes hard left and the copy goes far right to the edge of the screen. Also, the header is missing. This scene repeats on the “about”, and “Contact” pages as well. Any suggestions?
Thanks
@BruceB
You’re posting a question about TTG Pages to the page for TTG Highslide Gallery, and talking about a gallery — TTG Slimline — that doesn’t exist.
I have no idea.
It would be easier for me to help you if:
1) You would refer to products by their proper names.
2) You would post your questions to the appropriate page for the product you are asking about.
3) You would post a URL to the gallery exhibiting the problem, so that I can see and diagnose the problem firsthand. It would also be helpful to know in which browser you are experiencing this problem.
Try again?
Thanks,
Matt
Hi Matt, I try to export a gallery with 1,600 images, but the select gallery only export 1,000 images. How can I do for make gallerys for more than 1,000 images? Thanks
From MéxicoCity
@Antonio:
Upgrade to the latest version of the gallery. From the 1.8 release, the new limit is 10,000 images.
Hi Matt
I’m using TTG Highslide Gallery with Cooliris on my webpage – Have you an idea why my Cooliris-feed have named all my pictures with “nil”?
Thanks for help!
Example: http://www.vonow-photography.ch/gallery/080301_mzg/
Yes, I know exactly why. I made some changes in an update and didn’t realize this was broken in the process. I will have it fixed for the next update. But since you pointed it out, I’m going to let you decide what goes there. In the Image Info control pane, would you prefer that Cooliris received the content from your Image Caption or <img alt= data?
Hi Matt
I don’t show the image caption, so I prefer the img alt tag. But the ultimate solution would be, if it will be able to change inside the lightroom configuration pane.
You’ll be able to change the source of the data; I’m just asking which controller you’d like it to be taken from. You can set either one to use the Caption, the Title or whatever IPTC source you like.
So I would prefer the img alt tag.
I’m just getting started with all of this and admit I’m finding it all a bit daunting.
Anyway, I’m trying to
1. Do an Image Caption Custom setting that looks something like “{Title}{Caption}{Copyright}”. The idea is to get the image title, caption, and copyright below the picture each on it’s own line. This works, but when I do it, CoolIris doesn’t work anymore. If I take out the ’s, then CoolIris works, but I don’t get my nice formatting on the image page.
2. Change the font, size, and color of the watermark text
Please help.
The formatting changed my post…. It read {Title} <b> {caption} <b> {copyright} without the spaces….
Hi Chris,
Regarding point 1, several issues. First,
<b>is degraded HTML for bold-face type;<br />is valid XHTML for a line-break. Next, Cooliris cannot accept HTML in its captions. In version 1.9.1, however, the Cooliris caption is fed from the<img alt=controller in the Image Info control pane. You can therefore set your Caption and <image alt= with separate formatting.About watermarks, Lightroom 2 does not allow you to change the font, size or color of watermarks in the Web module.
Thanks for the reply. I didn’t know how to post so my code would show up in here properly. I was using
<br>. I’ve changed to<br />now.I’m using CoolIris 1.11.6a and what I’m finding is that I get two caption lines under my pictures. The first is indeed fed by
<img alt=, but the second one is fed by “Image Caption” which has my XHTML as above and therefore doesn’t do what is desired. Is there a way to turn off the second line in CoolIris or source it from something else, like Image ID Tag?Thanks.
I will address this in an update. Thanks.
Hi Matt,
When investigating a sample of a Highslide Gallery I noticed that one could right click on an image to copy it. Slimbox V2 that I have been using does not seem to allow this. I realise that there are many ways a guest could use to ‘grab’ an image but at least the lack of the ‘right click’ option would seem to discourage the less persistent. Am I missing something or just overly cautious?
Robert.
I think you’re being overly cautious; you said yourself, there are many ways to grab an image, and lacking a right-click will not dissuade any but the most casual Internet user who knows no better. But if you’re set on disabling the right-click, see the FAQ.
I really like the galleries created with TTG, but I am having trouble understanding how to use the ’shared resources’ settings. I think it would be really useful to not have to place copies of the files that don’t change within each gallery, which is what it appears the ’shared resources’ do, but I am not sure how to go about it. Which files are included in the shared resources? Where should the shared resources directory be placed and how should it be referenced?
I have created multiple trees of galleries (using Auto Index) within my website. Do I need a separate resources directory for each branch of the tree, or can I use a single one for all of them.
I have looked for information on how to use this feature, but didn’t find any. If I missed it, please direct me to the documentation. If it doesn’t exist, I would suggest that it would be a good topic for a video.
David
Hi David.
To use the shared resources option, you need to export a master gallery with all resources intact (i.e. with shared resources disabled). For subsequent galleries, you can then enabled the shared resources and specify the location of the resources folder for that master gallery. These galleries will then be dependent upon the resources folder of the master. Shared resources include the identity plate and other images files, Javascript resources and CSS files.
hey Matt—
I’ve just installed this gallery and have been loving it so far, but I was wondering if it is at all possible to include the client selection functionality into the slideshow.
I just find it’ll be a bit of a pain if you have to back out of the slideshow to make your selection (since the thumbnail page doesn’t track where you were in the slideshow), especially if you’ve got a sequence of images that may all look near-identical to a client in thumbnail view.
Thanks.
Unfortunately, it is not possible. The form that tracks selections is located on the page with the thumbnail grid. Meanwhile, the slideshow source code is created and destroyed on the fly for each image. When you click to enlarge an image, that code is created; when you close the image, or more on to the next image, that code is destroyed. If the selection ticker were located on that image, it too would be destroyed.
The slideshow does provide some visual cue to the image’s location in the grid; you should notice that the image will fly back in the direction of it’s thumbnail when closed. The client selection features are a little easier to use when the Highslide Mode is set to “Proofing”, which allows for multiple large-size images to be viewed at once, and which also encourages the user to click on individual images to enlarge them rather than moving through them in the slideshow, which helps them to keep track of their location.
Being able to view multiple large images side-by-side also makes it easier to deal with those sequences of near-identical images.
Yeah, I had already figured it wouldn’t be possible, but there’s no harm in asking. I’m doing my best to set things up to be as ‘dummy-proof’ as possible, but it always seems that clients will do their equal best to find a way to ‘dummy’ it all up again.
Anyway, thanks for the quick reply. And keep up the good work!
Ok so I have taken onboard the fact that you dont like “disable right clik”
( I never knew how to get around it ) Anyways maybe you could help me with an alternative.
how can i put a watermark on all the images in a gallery with out effecting the originals left on my computer or creating duplicates. I hope your not gonna say use the identity plate thingy as I am using that for my header, I know it could be something simple, but I am not a clever person.
also could you make it possible for people to purchase E cards from the galleries.
if thats a stupid question then just ignore me.
thanks mate
Getting around the right-click is as simple as disabling Javascript in your browser, and there are several ways to do that depending on your browser. It also doesn’t prevent people dragging images from the browser to their desktop, nor taking screen captures.
Watermarking is the best image protection. Unfortunately, support for watermarking LR2 is poor. Making duplicates is the only way right now to make a decent job of it; this will change when LR3 goes to retail, but no telling when that will be.
E-cards can be sent for free using Fotomoto in TTG Highslide Gallery Pro, with physical cards and photo prints available as purchase options. That’s about all their is to that.
One setting I’ve been looking for and couldn’t find is how to add a bit of space between the bottom of the Menu Border and the top of the Gallery Description. The default setting is a little too tight for the look I’m going for. Am I just missing a slider somewhere in there?
I went into the generated gallery.css file and tweaked the top margin of .highslide-gallery and that works just fine, but it would be nice if I didn’t have to go change it every time.
Just a thought.
JP
Sorry, forgot to add—
also, space between the last row of thumbnails and the submit form.
Thanks.
Not an option. However, in the next update I will be including the CSS override feature added to the most recent release of TTG Pages. This will allow you to make the CSS override a part of your template.
Hi
Great gallery. Just a couple of questions:
In your demo slideshow, it is only possible to close the slideshow by clicking on the image or the close button. In my test slideshow, it closes when I click on any part of the dimmed background and this can result in the slideshow being closed unintentionally – see: http://www.penf.demon.co.uk/thumbtest/ Is there a setting to modify this?
In a future release, would it be possible to offer a choice of caption and control placement in the inline slideshow? I prefer not to have these overlay the image. To show what I mean, I have edited the output index.html file to display the captions and controls below the image and thumbstrip – http://www.penf.demon.co.uk/
Best regards
Fred
Hi Fred,
I’m not sure which demo you’re referring to. In my demo, the slideshow also closes when clicking in the area surrounding the image. You might try scanning the Highslide reference for a full list of options. I wasn’t able to find an answer, but I may have overlooked it.
As for the captions, it would require an entire rewrite of the inline slideshow mode, and being as I worked so hard to get the captions into the overlays, I’m loathe to reverse the job.
Hi
The demo that I looked at was this one which is linked to from your main Highslide (not Pro version) page – http://lightroom.theturninggate.net/galleries/galleries/ttg_highslide01/ – the slideshow doesn’t close when I click on the background.
Hi, again
I took a look at the HS reference guide link that you kindly provided.
The required script to prevent closing the slideshow on clicking the dimmed background is “hs.onDimmerClick”. I tried adding it to my test site and it seems to work – http://www.penf.demon.co.uk/thumbtest/
Is there a way for me to edit this into the master template in the Lightroom gallery without breaking anything?
Ah-ha. That’s probably something that changed between Highslide versions without my noticing it. The demo gallery you were looking at was running an older version of the script.
The Highslide gallery is pretty complex; probably better for me to add the option in an update. I’ll add it to my list for the next release.
Many thanks for the helpful reply and great gallery.
Hi
Hopefully an easy problem for you to solve for me.
since changing my form to email settings, i am no longer able to see the gallery index when previewing my work.
thanks eddy
This is what im getting:
‘; } error_reporting(E_ALL ^ E_NOTICE); $show = trim($_SERVER["QUERY_STRING"]); if ($show == ‘php’) phpinfo(); // for debugging; displays $w in human-readable format function debug($w) { write_top(); echo ‘

if (is_string($w)) echo htmlentities($w);
else print_r ($w);
echo ”

Hi Eddy,
The gallery index and form-to-email script to not communicate at all. They are entirely separate, and so making changes to the form-to-email script should have no impact upon your gallery index. Sounds like you have some other problem. Export a fresh gallery without any modifications, and try again. If you receive an error from the gallery index when placed online, contact me with a URL to the site so that I can see the problem.
Hi Matthew,
really nice web plugin you have created. I’m leaning towards buying it but want to make sure I can achieve what I want before I buy. I’ve spent a couple of hours with it and there are a couple of things I havent managed to solve.
1. change the controls to small white icons instead of text
2. place the controls above the enlarged image
3. add numbers in the heading
4. remove the thumbstrip when viewing the enlarged image
5. constrain the size of the popup so it does not resize depending on image
I know all of these are possible to do with Highslide but I have not been able to find through the GUI any ways to modify these. Is there any simple way to do this?
Hi Karl-Petter,
Highslide is incredibly flexible, and my web engine does not attempt to provide controls for every possible Highslide setup. That would be incredibly overwhelming, and probably difficult to use. Instead, I’ve created three Highslide setups or “modes” — Slideshow, Proofing and Inline Slideshow — and have provided options for customizing the appearance and behavior of each.
The things you’re asking about, however, are not supported by any of the included Highslide modes. You might be able to implement some of these features by customizing the Highslide options or CSS manually, the structural HTML as generated by Lightroom is not setup for others, such as placing the controls above the image.
Thanks, I tried a bit of tweaking and it was not to hard. Also took a look at the Lightroom SDK and it seems quite straight forward how to create a web engine so I´ll do my own instead based on Highslide.
Hi – I tried this with the Google Analytics code to background and it’s not working for me. The code shows up on the source file, but I’m not getting a background image.
Any ideas?
Michael, I’m not sure what you’re attempting to do. Where are you trying to add a background image?
Nice Plugin…but how many costs it?!?
Standard and pro?
…and where can I download it?
Use the “Add to Cart” button above. The price is indicated on the button. The standard version is $20, and the Pro version is available for $40 on its own page.
